2009 Peanut Rules

 

2009 N.S.F.L. PEANUT DIVISION RULES

 
 
 
  1. The purpose of this division is to instill a love of the game to the players who participate. It is your responsibility as the Coach, to teach the fundamental aspects of the game and prepare these players for the next level. Keep it simple and remember this is INSTRUCTIONAL. KEEP OUR PLAYERS IN FOOTBALL!!
  2. This division will be 8 man tackle with modified rules outlined in the Offense and Defense section.
  3. All towns must submit a list of Coaches to include name, phone number and e-mail address to the Peanut Coordinator by the 3rd week of August.
  4. All Peanut Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches will attend a mandatory meeting in August.
  5. Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated. This includes players, coaches, and spectators. 
  6. A copy of the Peanut Rules will be issued to all Coaches. It will be reviewed before each game by opposing coaches and the referee as to insure no misinterpretations. 
  7. Half hour prior to the game, the rosters will be exchanged with opposing coaches. Players will be weighed in, and the ID cards checked. 
  8. The scale will be set at 78 lbs. Players will wear socks, pants, hip pads, tail pad thigh and knee pads, game pants and a t-shirt. Helmets, shoulder pads and cleats are NOT required to be worn at game weigh-in.
  9. The game will consist of 4 fifteen minute quarters with a running clock. The clock will be stopped only for injury or Time-Out. 
  10. There will be a 10 minute halftime. At the end of 1st and 3rd quarter. Teams will not change sides.
  11. Two Coaches will be allowed on the field during play. One Coach will be permitted in the Huddle and one Coach to help line up players. Once the play begins, Coaches will be 10 yards behind the deepest player and no direction will be allowed. 
  12. Once a player scores, his number will be recorded by the referee and this player will no longer be able to advance the ball in any way during that game.
  13. There will be no extra points.
  14. There will be no scoreboard used at any Peanut game.
  15. The field of play will be 40 yards. The defensive team will take possession at the 40 yard line on all change of possessions.
  16. Fumbles will not result in a change of possession. If a fumble occurs during the center/quarterback exchange or the quarterback/running back exchange, and  the ball is immediately picked-up, the play can continue.
  17. Interceptions will be a change of possession. Intercepting team will take possession at the 40 yard line.
 
 
 
 

OFFENSE

 
 
1. Will always begin play at 40 yard line making a 40 yard field.
 
2. Formations are limited to a T-formation and an I-formation.
 
3. No power formations of any kind.
 
4. All line players will be in a 3 or 4 point stance.
 
5. The Quarterback is not permitted to advance the ball in anyway. Any play in      which the QB does not hand off, or pass will result in the ball being placed back at the original line of scrimmage and loss of down. 
 
 
 

DEFENSE

 
 
1. Defense formations will be limited to the following alignments, 4-3-1 or 4-2-2.
 
2. Linemen will be down in a 3 or 4 point stance. They must line up head to head with the offense line with a 1 yd Neutral Zone.
 
3. No Nose guard.
 
4. Linebackers must be 6 yards off the ball and remain in linebacker stance until the ball is snapped
 
5. Safeties must be 9 yards of the ball and remain in a 2 point stance until the ball is
snapped. 
 
6. NO BLITZING ALLOWED.
 
7. NO GAP PENETRATION by the line unless contact is made.
